I agree. The thing that really cracks me up wrt to the US Constitution is with all the lofty rhetoric in it and even more so in the Dec. of Ind., yet we had slavery for nearly 100 years afterwards. Unfortunately, or rather fortunately, knowledge and understanding is not stagnant. Humans keep making progress. Trying to return to the original intent of several centuries ago is nonsense. Having said that, IMO, there is nothing wrong with trying to analyze what the really great parts were (such as separation of Church & State), making sure they remain great parts.
