Usually, people say that homosexuality has no evolutionary advantage, but given the large numbers in all human populations, there's some good cause.

Recently there have been several steps on solving that mystery. There appears to be a link between higher reproductive rates for women who have homosexual sons. So the homosexual sons are more or less dead ends, but their mothers more than make up for it.
