1. Bush doesn't have a definition of victory. If he wants to get rid of the insurgency and bring 'democracy' to Iraq then he should call for a draft and put in 300,000 fresh troops into the country.

Instead he's again relying on Iraqis to bring peace and security just as he relied upon them to bring flags and flowers to the invasion...exactly how did THAT work out?

During 'elections' everything in the country shuts down and there are no attacks. With enough manpower TO HOLD all areas then there would be enough security to get the oil industry and the country back on its feet.

2. The US has already admitted that there is no possibility of military defeat of the insurgency and that we're relying on the Iraqi government to fight it on its own (aka civil war) so we can leave. This is particularly true with only about 1/3rd the required number of troops.

3. This is more about Bush's personal ego than it is about democracy for anyone. This is more about BigOil profits than it is about Iraqis or Americans.
