Q3 Handset Mix in Japan ...

Slacker,

<< Those numbers dont make much sense to me. For the third quarter, KDDI sold 3.22 million handsets or about 28% of the total that Gartner cites. >>

They didn't really make sense to me either. It might make more sense if that read 'WCDMA sales' rather than PDC sales, and Im wondering if that was not the way it should have read ...

Sales of WCDMA handsets overtook sales of Personal Digital cellular (PDC) handsets for the first time in Japan, and WCDMA [not PDC] sales accounted for 42.8 percent of total sales in the country.

Assuming that of that 3.22 million at least 3 million were CDMA that would make the Q3 mix look so ...

WCDMA 4.8m 42.8%
PDC ~3.5m 31.9%
CDMA ~3.0m 26.3%
-----
11.3m
