I think it's all meant to be a distraction from larger and more important issues, like torture. Fixating on where a creche can be displayed (or not) or a plaque of the Ten Commandments displayed (or not) seems like you really care about important things, like being a good Christian, and saving the culture from destruction from without and rot from within. In the meantime, the government they support tortures cold and hungry naked men in secret prisons.
