I made a nice reply and found some links, but then my browser crashed.

The essence was that since Leo Strauss hid his esoteric meanings behind his exoteric writings you have to come across classnotes and the like to find out what he was saying. That is hampered because many of his students in turn are practicing hiding the meanings of their pieces, usually with poor results.

At any rate, excerpts such as the following are very helpful to learning what Strauss taught instead of what he wrote.
