Almost everything out of Hollywood spins left.

Spinning left isn't the same thing as overt propaganda. So the disaster movie has the obligatory speech about how we've destroyed the environment. So what? As long as the earthquake or volcano is scary and the special effects good, it doesn't matter unless you make it matter.

Television too. One of my favorites, Law and Order, has a left lean. It is so well done, however, that I just yell at McCoy when he's off base.

It appears King Kong, Narnia and Harry Potter may rescue Hollywood temporarily from its ongoing slump at the box office.

IMO, these films are pleasant aberrations from the usual disappointing Hollywood fare, and the slump will resume once we get into the new year.
