If things get problematic in the US - where are you going to go? A few hundred years ago you could probably flee various kinds of persecution, but I don't know that is nearly as easy today. I wonder where the fundie mormons of Utah will flee to so they can practice their religion?

I talked to ex pats from the UK and the USA that moved to the bahamas back in 2000, they said you couldn't hide then - economic embargoes were going to open up the bahamian banks if they did not comply. There was a time perhaps a drug lord or an honest citizen could put wealth over in a swiss bank account anonymously - do you really believe that is the case anymore?

South Vietnam and the Bolsheviks didn't have the satellites, the databases, the tracking chips, the plethora of personal information etc etc that our modern state has on practically every citizen. You and I pay our taxes and follow the laws - but if you truly believe the state is corrupt, led by corrupt dishonest men, using corrupt policies and dishonest accounting and such (which I read is the norm now) - why do you continue to pay taxes and support all that corruption? Why not follow the republican strategy they claim to have and "starve the beast" of its food? Why does Mish pay? Why does Knighty Tin pay? Who do so many pay and FEED that beast?

I don't think they want to do bad or evil or support corruption - but if you dont play ball with the system - you end up like General Chens grandpa - sitting in jail next to lice covered assassins no? You and I can talk 1984 all we like - just like the founding fathers and whoever else could TALK - its when ACTION began that change started - that group of citizens I saw on Cspan - they have stopped paying thier taxes - now I have some redneck friends in GA that did this on an individual basis - hehe - not organized like those folks - and most of them lost paycheck money through garnishments or lost thier houses. Why did they allow this - well because if they didn't - men with guns made them sit in jail - and thats no fun.

Now I do have a couple of rednecks I know that move from state to state working new jobs until the IRS man catches up to them - and it doesn't take long - not like the old days. One of them has lots of gold, but he tells me it doesnt matter, you cant stay anywhere anymore without a glowing credit record, no one will rent or sell anything to you. He pays quadruple to stay in places that dont seek his identity or credit record - even though he has a lot of gold - like Mr. T - he sleeps in a van mostly - at walmart of all places - tracphones - VERY expensive - even with gold he cant get a regular cheaper cell phone. Verizon wireless doesnt care about gold coins. He says the libraries are starting to fill up in the various towns where he gets on the internet - he is lucky to get 30 minutes a day now - lots of other citizens starting to come to the library for free internet - that used to not be the case. He says the people that convert his gold to spendable cash are starting to charge an arm and a leg for the conversion. Hard to be like that deniro character in that movie Brazil anymore - very very difficult to exist outside the system today - unless like mish says in his parody - you are an illegal mexican - hehe.
