Not that I am arguing against rebuilding New Orleans but you can have the ports without rebuilding the whole city.

Metro New Orleans has about 3 million people. To run the ports, you probably need 500K. That's a much smaller city. However, that would mean some major industries would have to relocate to another parts of the country. Industries like NASA, Lockhead Martin, BellSouth, Hibernia Bank, IBM, Navtec and Zatarain all have major facilities in NO. The cost to relocate them would be huge.

I know its what your guys want but I caution you........look at the fallout from Iraq.
