Peter, I don't believe that the majority of the Indian students that completed college have regressed back to degenerate bad ways. Yes, it happens, and probably more in some tribes than another. I have seen hospitals built on reservation land, that were totally staffed by members of the tribe. The ones I can remember were the Washoe, Navaho, and western Cherokee. I am not familiar with any tribe north of Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, and other states along that east/west boundary.

About the time you went to college, the Navaho were at their lowest ebb, and your friend was right about how they lived, but it was not cause to hate. There were no jobs available for the Navaho at that time, and their previous ability to raise sheep, cattle, and a few horses was hampered by the big out fits that did so for the mass market. They are no longer like that, except for the percentage that are drunks, and neer do wells, as in any ethnic group.

The plains tribes were very good at survival techniques, but an astroid mining culture sounds too much like a slave colony to me.

Those monkeys must have been watching those construction guys leaning on their shovels. :^) Monkey see, monkey do.
