The courts will decide whether it was an abuse of power, or not. What he says in his speech is irrelevant.

this was more a technical issue than any violation of law.

The law is just a series of technical issues.

The Constitution, however, is more than a law. It is the contract under which our country is founded. The Consitution states that a warrent is necessary for searches. Congress and executive orders, and advisors can't decide that they don't want to get a warrent. They can't even pass a law that says they don't need a warrent. They only Constitutional choice is to get a warrent, and that is no mere technicality.
