re: Good! Its about time we got to the heart of the matter. The mainstream press.......the press we all rely on to insure that democracy is working.....is not free. Assuming they were once free, its disgusting how they have operated the past 5 years. Hopefully, that is changing........they need to be more like the British press.

I watched the Bush speech last night... well crafted, poorly delivered, and not an ounce of reality.

Afterwards CNN had on Lindsey Graham and Joe Biden, who had just come back from Iraq observing the elections. These Rep/Dem guys both agreed 100% with each other, and gave a VERY clear picture of a country that is VERY close to a civil war. They said setting up a "democracy" in Iraq was a long shot at best (and it wouldn't be a democracy in the western sense). Said the next six months were critical... that we would know in six months how Iraq will go... civil war or some form of marginally effective central government.

These guys were both dead cold somber and serious (not one smile between them). You got the feeling that they had just seen the difference between the REAL Iraq, and the FANTASY Iraq that Bush was promoting, and they felt it was critical to prepare the American people for what is probably going to be a disaster... very soon.
