That was different. Then he was trying to reassure people that the Patriot Act wouldn't really cause a massive erosion of civil rights as some were fearful of. The fact they were actually right isn't important, he needed to give the appearance that they were wrong long enough to get the act passed.

That clip is damning. Every news outlet needs to run it on their evening news.

Ah, I see. So Dumbya was saying that any illegal spying he does will not be done under the Patriot Act but he will do it on his own instead??!!

Scotty McLellan too went into the same kind of contortions that you did. Poor fella Scotty, he is really earning his salary! :-)
