should I then assume that you find it acceptable for a single senator to highjack a must pass bill and attach a completely unrelated controversial rider such as ANWAR?

How does one senator accomplish this? Do you know the process for "attaching" unrelated riders to specific bills? There has to be more involved than him just taping it to the end of the bill while no one was looking.

Al, In the absence of an explanation, should I then assume that you find it acceptable for a single senator to highjack a must pass bill and attach a completely unrelated controversial rider such as ANWAR?

Should? No. Would? Understandable.

Truth is that I don't think we need to drill in the ANWR, at least not yet. Yeah, I'm suspicious of the way it's being tacked on. If anything, the geniuses should have realized that something as controversial as this would never stay underneath the radar. Makes me suspect there are some real special interests at work here.

Then again, I suspect every special interest out there loves Bush and the way he hardly ever uses his veto power to enforce any sort of fiscal discipline whatsoever.
