Both you and kholt are basically agreeing with me, that in cities you give up freedoms in order to have a functional society. You are pragmatic libertarians in that case. But IMO, its a rather rubbery definition of libertarian. It can adapt to all situations. What lines do you draw, if any in the sand?

I'd like to say that within one's own private space, one is 100% free to think anything. But I realise that for certain pathologies, modern psychology would debate even that. All the arrows of restriction keep coming back to the common good, which IIRC, was anathema to Ayn Rand style libertarianism.

Perhaps thats my hangup, what does Ayn Rand actually say about "common good"? I thought it was the worst of all dirty words for her, yet both you and kholt seems to accept the notion without problems. Whats the deal??
