9/11 should not change the fact that our leaders are bound by the "rule of law". 9/11 should not turn us into a quasi-dictatorship in which the leaders make up the laws as they see fit.

If 9/11 forces us to do things differently, the changes should be made through the legislative branch and validated by the judical branch of government.

It is amazing that I even have to lecuture you about this simple form of checks and balances in Constitional goverment. It shows how little regard you and other "conservatives" really have for the concept of Constitional goverment.

I'm sure you would be 100% in favor of Clinton acting outside the Constitution and performing illegal wiretaps to "protect" us in the wake of 9/11? Not. You guys are a bunch of hypocrites. You fool no one, but yourselves. We're tired of being told we have to accept dictatorial powers to protect against terrorism. Terrorism needs to be dealt with, but we don't need to destroy the fabric of our society in the process. Simple as that.

The 9/11 Presidency is over. We no longer allow the President to do anything he wants in the name of national security. Bush destroyed his own credibility.
