There is masses of room for improvement. A lot of work can be done from home now. If you can offshore it to India, it can also be done from home. Thought is needed on the mass transit of goods. 18 wheelers only need to do the last 10 miles or so imho. Why we are shipping in to the UK by air the likes of runner beans from Africa, and tomatoes from Israel beats me. Someone really ought to look into that. Air traffic is the biggest increasing cause of greenhouse gas generation if I remember correctly. I live at about 300 feet above MSL, so lots of other guys have to worry about that more then I. If you are a republican, live near sea level, and don't care about global warming, I would check your house insurance really carefully for the small print. There is a place for government sponsorship. The USA were the guys who got the Panama Canal project finished for example, and just think of the amount of trouble that has saved. The fact is, with the internet in your home, the security services can pretty well investigate you all they want. 1984 was a long time ago. Big business in Russia seems very heavy handed. Makes the guys on Wall Street almost look virtuous.
