During that time, the President had the support of the media, and they did not expose the efforts of our agencies, and deliberately try to hurt the efforts of the President to keep the general population safe. Maybe you have something your are trying to hide. If it does not affect the security of the nation, you have nothing to fear. Your post makes me wonder just what you might have done. You are very trusting. What makes you think they will limit their wiretapping to just people they think pose a threat? Why do you assume that all the people involved in this program are good citizens who are only concerned about our welfare and security? There are reasons why certain things are not permitted in a free society. There are reasons why the right to privacy is a key element of any democracy. I have nothing to hide but I don't want the gov't listening to my phone calls just in case. It worries me that you are so willing to give away our rights and protections because Mr. Bush says you should.

People like Tejek are either ignorant or entirely misrepresent the situation for an ulterior motive. Either way, whatever they post should be taken with a grain of salt. For instance, the concern over the Govt overstepping its bounds with this SURVELLIANCE (it isnt wire tapping as the term is generally understood) of overseas calls is nonsense. The entire program is brought before an oversight committee every so often (I have just forgotten the exact procedure) and reviewed. What irritates me is the media and certain Democrats seem to delight in misrepresenting this for political gain when anyone with a brain in their head realizes the MERE FACT the program has been made public now has likely destroyed its usefulness. So who is hurt, YOU AND ME and our families. jdn
