Searle, on the issue of Iran's nuclear ambitions, I must disagree with you. To Canada's shame, it was Canada who supplied and trained India in the matter of nuclear power. Of course India signed agreements that it was all for peaceful power generation purposes. Canada even advanced and gave India money to build the reactors. And India was not alone. I believe we had our greedy hands in Pakistan and N. Korea as well. (I haven't researched this, maybe somebody will correct me). I think your judgement is clouded by your negativity towards Israel. In all other cases, you look at issues with extreme skepticism, and as you yourself admitted, others may classify you as a conspiracy nut because of your questioning mind. But that attitude does not extend to Iran, and thus is inconsistent. You correctly point out that Israel is nuclear. Why on Gods earth would Iran, or Iraq or any other neighbouring state therefore not want to have the nuclear option in its back pocket to counter Israel's ultimate threat? It is a matter of balance and "right" in their eyes. But although I can sympathize with those sentiments, having long time sworn neighbouring enemies possessing nuclear weapons is a recipe for disaster, and the rest of the world is rightly alarmed. They should have been alarmed at Israel's nuclear program, and yes, they should insist on disarming Israel. I know this won't happen, so we are in a dilemma, and the Muslim world must continue to feel discriminated and devalued, without a chance to ever match Israel's power and influence.
