Sure they do, if they thought there was a better country for them economically they would leave the US and go to that other country. The poor in other nations try to get to the US for this reason. The poor in the US stay in the US. There's a reason for those two facts.

Unfortunately, the poor in this country usually do not compare themselves to the poor in other nations........rather they compare themselves to the middle class and wealthy in this country. That's what creates a problem.


It's not just a matter of how many gadgets or calories you consume. What really gets people comparing is the amount of control they have over their own lives. That control often rests more on relative prosperity and not asset base.
