Unfortunately, the poor in this country usually do not compare themselves to the poor in other nations........rather they compare themselves to the middle class and wealthy in this country. That's what creates a problem.

It's not just a matter of how many gadgets or calories you consume. What really gets people comparing is the amount of control they have over their own lives. That control often rests more on relative prosperity and not asset base.


Yes, that's true. At the some time, imagine what it must be like watching all the stuff on tv for sale when you barely have enough money to put food on the table. Imagine watching Lindsey Lohan who is barely 20 smashing up her new Mercedes because she got into the margaritas at lunch when you can't afford to have insurance for your wreck parked on the street.

The contrast has to be jarring.
