Correct, but something that I was expecting to happen in some 10 years time was announced by BT.

My idea was that by late next decade the central Offices would be replaced by another infrastructure.

I still think that it will take a while. The BT action could be a machiavellian plot by the British operator plus some cunning supplier to kick start this central office replacement early on.
