Do you know WHO built the Dome of the Rock?

It was King Herod, a pagan, who built it to win over the Jewish people he governed. Dont you find the whole thing kind of ironic? jdn

I don't think that's correct. Here's the way I learned it:

"In 685AD the Umayyad Khalif, 'Abdul Malik ibn Marwan, commenced work on the Dome of the Rock. Essentially unchanged for more than thirteen centuries, the Dome of the Rock remains one of the world's most beautiful and enduring architectural treasures. "

Here is a history of the rock. Recently they have escavated under it and found the huge rock of the very large temple. They learn more every day about this area, but to be certain it was leveled by war many times.
