Actually, I'd like to know if shorting is possible as well. That would probably change my portfolio.

And is it just me or is there a smaller crowd for the 2006 charity exercise?

I'm no veteran, but it seems to me we should not have shorts, or maybe allow one. I've been known to short in real life, but it seems against the spirit of the contest.

For 'legal grounds' I'd cite that it is a 'buy and hold' contest.

Since there are so few shorts in practice, it makes it too easy to win in a bad biotech year.
