No difference, except perhaps to the extent of the
differences in their avowed occupations. I don't
think Letterman includes political commentary per se
as part of his job description. When comics or actors
venture out into giving political opinions, they
have to be prepared to take the consequences.

O'Reilly is an avowed, and abrasive, political commentator.
If you tune in, you pretty much know what you'll get.

With Letterman, I expect some hokey top ten list,
even if it contains political parody. That's not the same
as the comments attributed to him in the article.

All these personalities tend to lead cloistered lives.
They hang with people who share their own POV and
are catered to on top of that due to their financial
success. It's a recipe for arrogance.

Like so many in the entertainment field, Letterman got lucky with a late night tv show. And, like so many others in the biz, they believe that we actually give a .... what they think as it concerns our safety, children or family. Letterman has had too many lunches with those New Yorkers' and Hollywood types on the 'A' list.

How is that any different with O'Reilly? Two sides of the same coin, no?

O'Reilly's show is largely a political show, and he makes no bones about putting out his personal POV. In fact the show is all about his personal POV.

Letterman's success has been based on having an entertainment show.

Big difference.
