As for the ACLU, it has a role to play. It's role is to look out for the civil liberties of the little guy who may get steamrolled by the government machine. It's a role we need somebody to play. Doesn't mean we make it the quarterback, but we need to respect the role of the role players.

Perhaps, they have a role. Perhaps, they have taken their role too far. Prayer, flag, thirteen year old abortion without parent consent etc. The ACLU doesn't fight for the little guy as you suggest. They fight for their cause which sometimes involves the little guy.
