Mish, the GMT800 platform is ANCIENT. These product launches are part of a natural cycle of refreshing platforms, and in a previous post I've outlined why GMT900 appears to be revolutionary, not evolutionary. At 16/22 MPG you're really close to a minivan or a crossover, and you can still go over hill over dale and anywhere between. When the actual tests on GMT900 EPA is released on a 2007 platform if the needle is moved to say 17/24 or even 16/24 - you have achieved crossover/minivan type mileage that will appeal to the suburban soccer mom.

Lets not forget that Nissan is getting ready to release a new Titan engine and tranny and Toyota is getting ready to come out with bigger Sequoia and Tundra models under the same backdrop.

Also its worth pointing out that GM gambled and lost big time on the Colorado/Canyon. They built reliable, safe, midsize trucks with practical tolerances of performance that would meet the average suburban jockey needs - and the world went "BORING!"

I've made this point several times and I'll make it again. At 16/22 MPG the GMT900 platform Chevrolet Tahoe, with a V-8, with 60 more HP, with more towing capacity, with a bigger cabin, and a 500 pound weight disadvantage gets better fuel economy than a V-6 Honda Ridgeline. There is no thumbing your nose at those kinds of numbers.
