Well, one of your most oft repeated predictions was that Democracy would never flourish in Iraq. Well in the first Iraqi constitutional election, 70% of Iraqis voted. I'd call that flourishing. They have a long way to go to solidify their Democracy and make it something that will last, but so far the SUCCESS in Iraq has defied all of your predictions. Has it come at a huge cost to Americans? Undoubtably. Was it worth it? If Iraqi Democracy stands the test of time and helps to cause a domino effect in the greater Middle East, then I'll say it was worth it. But to make a judgement right now is about 20-30 years too early. Lastly, would I have done things differently on the day after 9/11? You bet I would have! I would have leveled Afghanistan, passed it over to NATO and the UN and then I would have stopped there. Instead, I would have urged Congress to join with me in spending hundreds of billions on a new oil-independent economy, and that would have been my moonshot.
