2006 will be remembered as the year it all came unglued.
DOW 11011 should end year around 10400 after dipping again below 10k, possibly 93-9400.
Inflation has to be acknowledged. Stonyfield yogurt from .89 to .99 at Whole Foods. A small but very typical example I experienced on the way in. Nearly everything has gone up sharply with lots more increases ahead, yet the govt reports inflation as almost non-existent. Consumers will kill any chance of economic growth.
Stocks like STP and those that offer ways of squeezing more from every dollar will continue to do well
And more and more companies will offer headlines like this-

Phelps Dodge Slashes Fourth-Quarter Profit Forecast on Higher Prices, Sales Shortfalls

PHOENIX (AP) -- Phelps Dodge Corp., one of the world's largest copper producers, said Tuesday fourth-quarter earnings will fall well below previous expectations, with higher copper prices, shortfalls in production and sales, and more one-time costs dragging down profits. Its shares tumbled more than 9 percent in premarket trading.

The company cut its earnings estimate to $1 to $1.30 per share for the quarter, down sharply from a prior forecast of $4.15 to $4.40 per share.

DOW - Yesterday's GM upgrade meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Alcoa just the beginning. Watch when retailers start releasing
DOW target intact with 10777 by end of week
STP 29.75 still a powerhouse
