One strange thing I heard about GM the other day... they are #1 in the China market, primarily the Buick brand. Not bad being #1 in what is probably the fastest growing and potentially largest world market.

That IS a positive; however, to get there GM cut a deal with China. They had to give up certain things to get that position. I don't remember what those things were but if being number one means limited or no profits, it doesn't mean much to me.

Traditionally, Americans tend to get screwed by the Chinese when it comes to business deals. I dread it every time Boeing goes over to negotiate a new plane deal. The last time they were sure they got a great deal even though they threw in a lot of freebies. They did that because Chinese led them to believe that in the future, Boeing was to be the number one supplier of commercial jets to Chinese airlines. Not more than two weaks later, Airbus got a order that was twice as big and was worth 1 1/2 times the Boeing order!!!

Knowing what I know about GM, they probably sold China their souls in order to be #1. Obviously, that's conjecture and not fact.
