Growth in the telecom equipment maker's core market, dominated by Juniper and Cisco Systems, is likely to slow to the 20% range in 2006 and 2007, according to Prudential analyst Inder Singh. For comparison, the market grew more than 40% in 2004 and more than 30% in 2005, the analyst said.

CSCO and JNPR combined are 98% of the core router market. I don't think their router sales grew 40% in 2004 and 30% in 2005, so I think this guy is making stuff up. I can check JNPR's sales growth next week, but his numbers look wrong...

On a more positive side, remember that Cisco has 30% more sales people than it did a year to two years ago. That sales force is now productive and should drive some incremental revenue. So that will be interesting to watch in this upcoming earnings call.
