QUALCOMM "overweight"

Wednesday, January 11, 2006 3:10:47 AM ET
Prudential Financial

NEW YORK, January 11 (newratings.com) - Analyst Inder M Singh of Prudential Financial reiterates his "overweight" rating on QUALCOMM Inc (QCOM.NAS). The target price is set to $55.

In a research note published yesterday, the analyst mentions that recent checks indicate that carrier promotional activity in the December quarter has significantly boosted customer adoption of 3G technologies. QUALCOMM’s WCDMA chipset market share has expanded from the low- to mid-teens to the mid- to high-20% range due to increased sales of handsets that use the company’s chipsets, the analyst says. The company’s chipset sales and high-margin royalty revenues are expected to increase substantially due to the anticipated robust growth in the WCDMA market, Prudential Financial adds.

Hey hedge, how is the prize stash going? I am going to throw in a bushel of citrus* (winners choice). It should be a 'sunny day' if my guess is eclipsed.

*While I would prefer to support a local producer, shipping regulations might required me to order the stuff and send it off to the winner. Details will be finalized at contest end.
