I think that's melodramatic and it also misses the point.

I was arguing that if Bush does his thing going after the enemy we're not giving up our right. That was my point. They are two different things.

I wouldn't take Bush's word for much of anything. I would insist on oversight. The warrant isn't the only mechanism for oversight. It's not even all that effective a mechanism for oversight as operatives can simply operate without one, as we have seen. A warrant isn't perfect protection. It's being treated by some as the holy grail, which is bogus and unwarranted. Pun intended.
