We are approaching the vagueness of argument that usually leads to emotional line drawing. Who is the enemy? At what point can we label an entity to be an enemy within the USA. When is the enemy simply 'over there' and acting against the interests of the USA? What was once easily discernable as the enemy 'over there' is not so easily determined in modern times. Cultures have clashed and meshed. People come and go with relative ease. American ideas and ideals are being manifest in pockets all over the world. People often immigrate here from 'over there' for that very reason. So we are over there in a big way and the peops from over there are here in a big way. People immigrate here in large numbers both legally and illegally with un-American ideals. Over there isn't always 'over there' any more. Anarchists, Nazis etc are welcome to their views while living in America as long as they don't try to over throw the government unlawfully. It just seems to me that we ought to spend some time clarifying the term 'enemy' as a legal and specific idea, prior to passing too many more laws on what to do about enemies.

I was arguing that if Bush does his thing going after the enemy we're not giving up our right. That was my point. It does not take that much imagination to think what would happen if Bush does his thing going after the enemy without oversight and what will happen as collateral damage to innocent bystanders. It would not take too much imagination to see that collateral damage could be far greater than any damage done to even run of the mill not too smart enemy. Oh, no - you say that couldn't happen.
