"As for the whether the Mahdi Army can be disbanded or not,... MAS claimed knowledge of the Mahdi's presence. The Mahdi became invisible and is supposed to reveal himself near the end of time to help establish world order according to God's commandments. He is to go to Mecca and Pray with Jesus at the Kabba and then carry out his duties while Jesus heads the world religious order. MAS told his followers that no one can disban the army because it belongs to the Mahdi. The army was supposed to lay down their arms and begin spreading the word after the deal was struck with Sistani. They are to prepare for their re-organization at some future date when called upon. We don't actually know the details of that deal yet as far as I know. However, if this plays out according to design, the Al-Mahdi Army will make Al-Quaida look like child's play.
