Walkman~

I hear that. I find it much more enjoyable.
Unfortunately we got socked with snow and ice last night.
I was hoping for a nice long walk.

Yes, the weather turned rather brutal here over
the weekend as well.
I had big plans for checking on a certain pond
where there is an active beaver lodge, but yesterday,
it was around zero with very strong northwest winds.
With windchill, it was supposed to be around 0
-25F.
Decided to stay home but went out for a walk in
the fields and woods here at the farm to photograph
animal tracks. About 3/4 of an hour of that and
I was very ready to come back indoors to warm up!!

However, from a weight-loss point of view, I'll bet
that walking in this kind of weather would be
pretty effective. Sort of a double burn...
burning calories from walking and probably almost
as many just stoking up the internal furnace
to keep from freezing. <g>

It's below zero this morning, but at least the
wind has dropped. I saw our resident rabbit
out at the bird feeder area around 10:30 last night
and back again around 5:30 this morning. I keep
expecting him to be picked off by an owl, or by
the fox that wanders around our garden looking
under all of the bushes each night, but so far
he's hanging in. It's just that nasty Red Squirrel
that gives him trouble.
