Why can't nationalized health care work in the US? I lived in Japan for five years and had excellent health care, and its a social system (universal health care for all). Had a major surgery following a serious traffic accident (broken arm, jaw, cheek!) and it turned out great. I live in the United Arab Emirates now, and there is universal health care with every job. Have had a hernia operation and two minor surgeries with excellent results. All free to me.

It seems to work reasonable well in other countries - what is it about the US system that makes it verboten?
