Let me toss this line of thinking onto the table for your consideration -- It seems to be a given that Russia has assisted Iran in building, staffing, and designing much of their nuclear facilities. It also seems a given that unless there is a change in course, Iran will have nuclear weapons -- it's just a matter of time. At that future time the questions will be -- Will they use their nukes? And if they do, who will they target? Given the Islamic mindset, they will probably opt to use and disseminate their embryonic nuclear arsenal. Their targets of choice also seem to be givens. First, Israel and next their perceived “great Satan’”, the US. This might seem like rational behavior to their mindset -- after all such martyrdom surely deserve the pick of the litter when it comes to 72-virgins. You said <<Russia will ally with any force they think can help them win or outlast the US. Right now, Putin is desperately trying to create a formula for enough economic freedom to keep Russia from imploding with enough control/fear to keep him in power.>> Russia will be caught in a middle of their making. Fortunately on a temporary note, they are physically position within Iran. Possibly that positioning may help them influence the Iran political psyche. However, Russian brinkmanship, under such circumstance, seems short-sighted. Islam in it’s quest for planetary domination at any price, has no more respect for non-islamic Russia than any other nation or religion. Considering all that, let’s step back for a moment to a time before that ominous nuclear option decision can be made. Iran’s posture and behavior is actively aggressive and on a collision course with civilization. Unless Iran is dissuaded from it’s current, professed objectives – Israel, the US, and non-islamic civilization will little choice beyond abandoning political correctness and decimating the Iranian nuclear capability. Should Israel and the US choose to procrastinate you are looking at an Armageddon scenario. Neither course bodes well for civilization and there is little reason to think nations like France will pull their collective heads out of their ass long enough to smell the coffee.
