Brownco response...

A Brownco rep called me and stated that Brownco customers would not be experiencing the HarrisDirect fiasco when the account conversion takes effect on 3/27 (over the 3/24 weekend).

HarrisDirect accounts are cleared through Pershing and they have not been very cooperative with ETrade since they are loosing a lot of customers. Brownco uses ADP as a backup (same as ETrade) so the transition should be flawless, or nearly so. In addition Brownco customers will be given new account numbers/passwords about a month in advance which can be used before Brownco's last trade date of 3/24.

I also questioned the rep about the low market rates presently being offered by Brownco (~1 1/2%) as compared to other brokerages. He said that the higher ETrade rates will be available when the switchover takes place.

We shall see.
