Imo the Brown rep is blowing smoke, the problem wasn't so much in transferring assets as in (i) no access to account and (ii) no way to get through to anyone at etrade (no response to email, no way to get through on phone).

I don't see how Pershing could have been responsible for those things.

They sent me a new i.d. and password a month in advance too. But it was a BAD password, it didn't work, so I couldn't log on. I knew the password was bad a week and a half or so before the tranfer, emailed them about it, and nothing was done.

I figured out by myself that I had to reset the bad password ... if I had waited for etrade to inform me of that I would still have no access to my account.

Of course there was also the problem of disappeared assets but that was not as big a deal as the other problems, imo.
