"I have no clue what you do in Iraq to "fix it"."

That ship sailed when we didn't prepare for winning the peace. We probably could have had the equivalent of roses thrown at our feet, but we didn't secure the country, didn't move aggressively to repair the damaged infrastructure and have done little to get the economy going. If people had jobs, running water and police protection, they'd be giddy over the removal of Saddam. As it is, they might be glad he is no longer in power, but there are all those problems to deal with, not the least of which is their next meal.

And at that, we probably still could "fix" Iraq. But you don't do that with a gun, you do that with a shovel. It would cost a lot more than currently. But it could pay off. We aren't doing that, however.
