The one thing i will guarantee you about iran is that what we learned in iraq will not apply there. Folks in Iran want to be europeans. Folks in iran dont have ethic splits to the same degree as iraq and shiaa are a huge majority. They may have more jews there than sunnis (dont really know).
But they are nationalists for sure much like the chinese. The deal i would strike is nuclear power only for 10 years and then the controls are removed and they will be trusted to not weaponize. If we are lucky, the mullahs will be gone and the new regime will either not want nukes or will want them and they wont be a threat to anyone except evil doers.

I have no idea how the citizens would react to a regime change. I guess we have to assume the worst case where none of the Iranian people support the invasion. I sure wouldn't support the invasion if I were them.

People imagine the Iranians as the enlightened group of Muslims. Personally, I think they are the most deadly. They send thedir kids to be Westernized so they can understand the enemy. They don't sound so "evil" when they talk about their discontent with the West when they are chatting with Oxford accents. They all get sent home packing their bags because they couldn't hook up in with any women in the West. They go home with blue balls and resentment for being rejected.

They want to be Europeanized all right. Let's think for a moment about how many people we have met in our lives that say they are Iranian. Isn't it another amazing coincidence that they are all Christian? I have never met an Iranian that said they were Muslim. I guess it's like moving from Italy and saying you were not related to the Mafia. Once they hit Western soil, they lose their old world identity as fast as they can.

Iran and Syria are the ones basically demanding the battle with the US and it's reconfirmed allies from Western Europe. I wouldn't worry about having to go back in 20 or 50 years because once we send the troops, we will have a permanent base of operations in Iran too. I'm sure the liberals will be protesting the rights of these psychopathic leaders, claiming that the US does not have a right to invade. However, we have the same right to defend ourselves against insignificant threats of force just as we did against Iraq's leader. Oh yeah, they did have the yellowcake containers from somewhere!!

The more I think about the invastion of Tehran, the more comfortable I am with the idea. If we do that, we had better take care of OBL before we go to phase 3 of the conflict.
