Other firms handed over data on Web searches

mercurynews.com

<<...Yahoo, Microsoft and America Online all complied with a government request for data on consumers' Web searches, a Justice Department official said Thursday.

Court documents and sources maintain the information did not compromise users' privacy.

But Google has refused to accede to government's demand, and on Wednesday the Bush administration asked a San Jose federal judge to force the Mountain View search company to comply with the subpoena...>>

I personally think that you care more about your politics than you presume to.
Many of us cannot escape to nature's reality as you are able to. I absolutely admire your freedom.
Your thread is mostly about happiness on our Big Blue Marble.
It's one of my favorite threads. Going there is like a good doobie. Ya' got sports, family, cooking, flirting, boating for sure, Rose yacking about all sorts of things, and great original poetry.
This thread is more about right-in-your-face problems you and your kids have to deal with. We kid around too. Have to.
For me I'd rather be sailing as your deck hand than having to save my children's earth. Somebody's got to.
Or whatever.

The best example of our current "leadership's" indifference to our energy problems is when the Democrats tried to push through a totally symbolic and paltry 1 mile per gallon increase in fuel efficiency vehicle standards on the eve of the Attack on Iraq in 2003. The Democrats were hoping that they could take advantage of the unified country and pass this small effort at getting energy efficiency going again. They were wrong. Bush and his buddies in Congress wanted no part of it and killed the entirely acheivable 1 mile per gallon increase over a decade in fuel standards, using the tired old arguements that it couldn't be done safely without hurting the economy. In reality, we could increase our fuel efficiency by 30% to over 100% without too much pain, as hybrids have shown us, with the proper incentives and public polices.

The rising price of petroleum will do for efficiencies what the government refused to do, that is make us more efficient out of necessity.
