You're not really this stupid, are you Jeff? The tax Gore proposed would have gone to achieving energy independence though a "Manhattan Project" for energy. The windfall profits caused by the Bush policies go to oil producing countires and companies. You CAN see the difference, can't you? If we'd done this when Carter first proposed it, we might have energy independence today.

The Bush policies will lead to higher gas prices with the only beneficiaries being the countries with oil and the countries that produce it. Bush foreign policies alone have probably added $20/bbl to the cost of oil.
