I think if we could remove most of them it would be enormously beneficial to the country. Lots of things would be better and simpler if they were simpler and better. Absent a strong public consensus for change and/or pressure on the yo-yo's who legislate this stuff, it's just parlor room chat. Washington is full of incredibly bright people with great ideas - beyond the Beltway too. Getting the powers that be to enact the great ideas is the yawning chasm most of those ideas fall into. Color me cynical about real tax reform and spending cuts.
