You call Bush an idealist. I call him a cynic. Everything Bush and Cheney does is based in cronyism and cynicism. That aside, however, I do agree we should be spending all of our resources on jumpstarting an economy not dependent on oil.

In addition, and I know you don't agree with this, we should be preparing our air force and navy for an operation to not only take out all known nuclear facilities in Iran, but to make the whole country a no-fly zone for the foreseeable future. There is no way that Iran can be allowed to have nukes. That will drive oil to above $100 and have some interesting economic consequences, but that will also hasten the day when we get off the oil addiction, especially if oil prices are driven relentlessly upwards by an air war with Iran.
