Iraq will remain free only as long as we the USA remain there in force....otherwise they will revert to their tribal and cultural heritage, leadership through force and guile.

That is the way it has always been, that is the way it will always be.

The only difference is that we are there to protect our oil interest's and serve notice on the Arab world not to fug with the USA or there will be consequences.......

That is the reality....

regards

Peter,
That is my wish as well. I see no outcome in iraq assured at this point. It is really up in the air and I sometimes think that an american departure will not lead to civil war but to a move toward unity of the different iraqi groups. I dont think we can just leave but i am back to my timetable proposal that lets iraqis who want a fair somewhat democratic and federal state prepare themselves for the final battle against the terrorists and remnant baathists. US should go back to border patrol to try to prevent more jihadis from entering but iraqi forces need to combat iraqi insurgents of all stripes. The next couple of months are crucial as the different iraq parties hammer out a coaliton govt than hopefully even most sunnis will accept. If so, Iraq indeed will become a beacon. If the fail, iraq will still become a beacon for the forces of darkness. mike
