You have said that, and clearly. And part of my response was that I don't see this any longer as a health issue, which weights my opinion now toward controlling the government intervention. It seems to me that a good balance was reached when we non-smokers finally could travel, work and eat in relatively smoke-free environments, while still allowing areas for smokers to exercise their freedom to smoke without endangering us. That smoke annoys me is my problem. I am sure I do (or have done) things that annoy people- like breastfeeding, which we all know is a despicably disgusting public spectacle. :) Unfortunately, the government often seems a lot more confused about these boundaries, private and public, and acts in ways I don't find always reasonable or necessary, so I am not willing to allow quite as much latitude for regulation. For once, you seem to have more faith than I in our leaders.
