I interpret the Dem dilemma differently

The sad fact is that their big financial supporters (as opposed to their voters) basically agree with much that Bush is doing.

To be blunt the DLC types who are still running the party would rather see the Republicans win yet again than risk the election of a strongly anti-war populist Democrat.
