RtS, I jumped in today and bought a little SMH for a short term trade - I was just trying for a little scalp, but not much happened. I decided to keep it overnight, and I was surprised to see the after hours trading. TXN and INTC did not move much in AH, but AMAT "jumped" about 30 cents(about 1.6 percent) after the close, and it appears to have stayed at that level till AH close. quotes.nasdaq.com I can't find any reason for the AMAT move, but SMH has responded by moving up about 25 cents. quotes.nasdaq.com We will just have to wait until tomorrow to see how it all plays out.
